Visitation Information

Dorothy V. Schaefers, age 60 of St. Michael, died Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Monticello/Big Lakes Hospital.

Dorothy Violet was born on October 2, 1947 in Little Falls to Edward and Verona (nee Chmielewski) Pierzinski. A Class of 66 graduate of Brainerd High School, Dorothy began working as a nurses aide in a nursing home. On August 25, 1967 she married Raymond Schaefers at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Harding. After many years as a homemaker, Dorothy returned to work at area nursing homes. She was a member of the Catholic Parishes in each community in which she and Ray lived, primarily in Brooklyn Park. Dorothy worked as a supervisor for Railway Equipment until her medical retirement. Dorothy enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, watching movies, and playing cards.

She is survived by: husband, Ray, St. Michael; daughter, Cherrie (Bill) Locke, North Branch; grandchildren: Jessica, Justine, Jeremy, Brittany, and Ryan, and Shelli; great-grandson, Tyler; brothers: Edward, and Ronald (Dorothy), both of Brainerd, John (Connie), Merrifield, Richard, South Dakota, Gerald, Bernard (Karen), and Florian (Gwen), all of Brainerd; sisters: Roseann (Marvin) Johnson, Brainerd, Maryann (Thomas) Kowalczyk, Pierz, Nancy (Ben) Spillman, Motley, and Laura (Roger Tibbetts) Mitchell, Garrison; brother-in-law, Herman “Junior” (Diane) Schaefers, Bloomington; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son, David, and her parents.

Memorial Mass 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, St Michael Catholic Church in St Michael. Visitation is 4-8 Tues. at the Peterson Chapel – St. Michael/Albertville funeral home in St Michael, with a prayer service at 7. Visitation resumes at church one hour before Mass. Father Gregory Abbott is the Celebrant.
