Dorothy L. Smith, age 90, of Rogers died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.
She was born on January 9, 1918 in Madelia, Minnesota the daughter of William & Margie Moses Hayden.
On September 18, 1937 Dorothy L. Hayden & Kenneth L. Smith were joined in holy marriage in Jordan, Minnesota. God blessed their marriage with seven children.
Dorothy was formerly employed at Munsingwear as a knitter. She also was the regular school bus driver for St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran School in Maple Grove for fifteen years and was a substitute driver for St. John’s for another five years.
She belonged to The Fish Lake School’s Mothers Club and was a faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Maple Grove.
Survived by loving children: Eleanor J. Winebrenner of Rockford, Elaine J. (Glen) Dolieslager of Maple Grove, Eileen J. Smith of Delano, Arnold K. (Kathleen) Smith, Bruce L. (Jane) Smith and Eugene G. Smith all of Rogers and Ronald P. (Julie) Smith of St. Michael; eighteen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by husband: Kenneth L. Smith on August 21, 2003, her parents: William & Margie Hayden, a brother: Howard Hayden in 1993 and by an infant sister: Edith C. Hayden.
Funeral services for Dorothy Smith will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, November 25th at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Maple Grove. The Reverend Steven C. Briel officiated and interment followed at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested for either/or The American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
