She grew up in Little Falls and graduated from high school in her hometown before pursuing higher education at St. Cloud Teachers College, where she earned a degree in education. She served as a teacher in both St. Michael and Champlin for many years.

Dorothy met the love of her life, Kenneth Daleiden, at a roller-skating rink in Foley. They were united in marriage in 1956 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN. Together, Dorothy and Ken shared 56 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2013.

They settled in St. Michael on a farm, and even into their seventies, Dorothy and Ken worked the land together, tending to their farm with love and dedication. Dorothy had a green thumb; she cultivated vibrant gardens and canned the many vegetables she grew.

She was a talented quilter and seamstress, pouring her creativity into beautiful projects that showcased her skill and passion. Her culinary talents were equally renowned; she had a knack for creating delicious meals without ever needing a recipe. Her cookies, with a secret ingredient known only to her, became a cherished family favorite.

In her leisure time, Dorothy enjoyed testing her luck at the casino; her love for card games were evident in her outings.

Above all else, Dorothy will be remembered for her boundless love, kindness, nurturing spirit, and selflessness. She consistently put others before herself, offering her support and care without hesitation. Her unwavering devotion to family made her a cherished role model to all who knew her.
