Donna Mae Hoekstra Anderson, age 90, of Buffalo, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018. She was born in Minneapolis on March 2, 1928, the daughter of Edward and Ellen (Johnson) Houbolt. On August 29, 1947, Donna Houbolt and Chester Hoekstra were united in marriage at Reformed Church in Silver Creek. This union was blessed with three sons, Gary, Michael and Alan. Chet passed away in June 1985. On April 9, 1995, Donna Hoekstra and Milton Anderson we united in marriage at Buffalo Evangelical Covenant Church in Buffalo. Donna was a faithful member of Buffalo Evangelical Covenant Church for 61 years. She was active with the BloodMobile and American Cancer Society. Donna also enjoyed being a volunteer with MOPS and quilting at home. Donna will be especially remembered for her kind and caring soul. That kindness was shown to anyone and everyone she knew and met.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Chester “Chet” Hoekstra; son: Michael Hoekstra; and her parents.
She is survived by her husband Milton “Milt” Anderson; sons Gary Hoekstra of Riverside, CA and Alan (Carol) Hoekstra of Buffalo; grandchildren: Michelle and Alexander; great-grandchildren: Lucy and Chester; Milt’s children: Stephen (Stephanie) Anderson of Eagan, Judith (Michael) Thyren of Minneapolis, Scott (Judy) Anderson of Lakeville and Charles (Holly) Anderson of Minnetonka; Milt’s grandchildren: Christian, Brian, Amanda, Michael, Joshua, Alyssa, Derek, Nicole, Aaron and Brittany; Milt’s great-grandchildren: Bennett, Asher, Henry, Oscar and Aaron; sisters: Eleanor (Gene) Wadman and Evelyn Lester.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Talking Bibles in California or MN Teen and Adult Challenge.
