Donatus J. Vetsch, age 88, of Albertville passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Guardian Angels Nursing Home in Elk River.

He was born in Albertville on August 18, 1927 the son of Alphonse & Mary (Barthel) Vetsch.

On May 6, 1950, Donatus J. Vetsch and Irma E. Dahlheimer were joined in holy marriage at St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville. God blessed their marriage with four children.

Through the years, Donatus established the Albertville Bus Company and Albertville Beverage Company. He also was a Deputy of The Wright County Sheriff’s Department and worked at both the Albertville and St. Michael Post Offices.
He was a lifelong, faithful member of St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville.
Donatus was a longtime member of The Albertville Fire Department and served as its Fire Chief. He was a former member of The Albertville City Council and a past President of the Albertville Lions Club.

He enjoyed playing the accordion, playing cards, card tricks, gardening and visiting with people.

Survived by children: Mary (Randy) Cramer of Savage, David (Jeanne) Vetsch & John (Lisa) Vetsch all of Albertville and Louis (Theresa) Vetsch of Rochester; 10 grandchildren: Stefanie Wiese, Kristine Ellis, Brenda Vetsch, Shelley Ebersviller, Laura Vetsch, Jena & Alison Vetsch, Sean Fitzgerald, Katie Welp and Colin Vetsch; 7 great grandchildren; a sister: Harriet Lenneman of Buffalo and by a brother: Bernard (Marlene) Vetsch of Albertville; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by loving wife: Irma E. Vetsch, his parents, a brother Ray Vetsch and sisters Delrose Lenneman & Elda Lenneman.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Donatus J. Vetsch will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 26th, 2016 at St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville. Father Peter Richards will be the Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Albert Cemetery.
Special music by Wayne & Mary Lou Kolles and Rachel Kimmerle.

A visitation will be held AT THE CHURCH Monday, July 25th from 4-8 P.M. A Prayer service will be held 8:00 P.M.
Further visitation Tuesday morning, July 26th one hour prior to mass at the church.

Casket Bearers will be Ron Tiernan, Dennis Lenneman, Duane Vetsch, Eugene Lenneman, Mark Martinez and Russell Greninger.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Bridging or Sharing and Caring Hands.
