Donald R. Schneider, age 71 of Albertville, MN formerly of East Grand Forks, MN passed away at The Veterans Hospital in St. Cloud, MN on Feb. 21, 2014. Funeral service on Friday Feb. 28, 2014 at Fort Snelling Chapel, 1 Federal Dr., Mpls., MN at 12 PM. Visitation on Thursday Feb. 27, 2014 from 5-8 PM at The Peterson Chapel, St. Michael, MN & one hour prior to service at the Fort Snelling Chapel. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Mpls., MN.
Donald was born on September 23, 1942 to Robert & Jessie (Lemm) Schneider in Fond du Lac, WI. Don was a proud graduate of University of North Dakota with a BS degree in Business Administration. Don served his country in the United States Air Force for eight years during the Vietnam War, the North Dakota Air Guard for 12 years & the US Air Force Retired Reserves for 13 years. He was the Administrator for HRA in East Grand Forks & Columbia Heights, MN for 25 years. Don was very active in community organizations in East Grand Forks & Columbia Heights for many years. He was a member and also served on many boards for Family of God Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks, MN. He was a life member of VFW Post #3817, The Retired Enlisted Association and National Association for Uniformed Services.
Preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Jessie Schneider, aunts, uncles, grandparents and one grand niece.
Survived by his wife of 51 years, Judith Schneider of Albertville, MN; sons, Robert (Stacy) Schneider of Minnetonka, MN & Lloyd Schneider of Green Bay, WI; grandson, Griffin Schneider of Minnetonka, MN; sisters, Suzanne Goldapske, Bonnie Fiebig, Sandra Schneider & Vickie (Jeffrey) Woodruff, all of Fond du Lac, WI; brothers, Ronald “Duke” (Gail) Schneider of St. Croix, IN, Michael (Cathy) Schneider Sr. of The Colony, TX, Mark (Sonya) Schneider of Parsbert, Germany & St. Cloud, FL & many nieces & nephews, grand nieces & nephews.
