Donald James Scherber, age 69, of Albertville passed away on Monday, October 1, 2012 at North Memorial Hospice in Robbinsdale.

He was born on April 21, 1943 in Sherburne County to Delbert & Bertha Diseth Scherber.

Don honorably served his Country in The United States Navy.

On June 30, 1984, Donald J. Scherber & Mary C. Hogan were joined in marriage in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Don was a retired supervisor of Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. He was formerly employed by the telephone company for thirty four years.

He enjoyed bowling, gardening, was an avid outdoors man.

He was also a member of The St. Michael American Legion Post # 567 and was their longtime gaming manager.

Survived by his wife: Mary C. Scherber of Albertville; children: Stephanie (Ross) Dahlheimer and Drew Scherber; grandsons: Nash & Gabe Dahlheimer; brother: Jerome “Jerry” Scherber all of St. Michael; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Fred (Carol Lou) Knox, Wayne (Kay) Knox and Mabel Evans-Eakle; a stepson : Michael Johnson and a stepdaughter: Susan Long both of Lawton, Oklahoma; special friends: Dave Dugan and Teri Bell & family; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald Scherber will be held on Saturday, October 6th at 1:00 P.M. at The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael. Interment with military rites St. Michael Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 5th from 5-7 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home.

Further visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, October 6th one hour prior to Mass.

Urn Bearers will be Don’s two grandsons Nash & Gabe Dahlheimer.

Honorary Bearers will be Marty Zahler, Gordon “Butch” Barbeln, Ron Marquette, Mark Kornovich, Pat Schoen and James “Barney” Marquette.

The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home is serving the family.
