Visitation Information

Donald R. Hukriede was born September 23rd 1954 in Litchfield, Minnesota. He grew up in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and graduated in 1973 at Cooper High School. He then attended Hennepin Tech. College for engineering and blue print reading. He worked various jobs but mainly warehouse work with shipping and receiving, the longest being at Coynes & Company for 20 years. He is survived by his loving wife and daughter Barbara and Kaitlyn, his mother and father Mary Ann and Vernon Hukriede, sisters Mary Kay Burdick (Gordon) and Wendy Nistler (Gary), and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was a devoted husband and father and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, anytime he could. He was one of the last true gentlemen around. He could always bring a smile to anyone’s face. To Barb he was her Groom of 27 years, To Katie, Pops, her goofy buddy, to his parents a wonderful son, to his sisters the protective brother, to his nieces and nephews Uncle Don with the big heart, and to all of Katie’s friends he was “Don the Bon”.
He had a true love for nature, hunting, fishing, and just spending time with family and friends. Evening campfires, BBQ gatherings were the simple things that meant so much. If everyone here celebrating Don’s life remembers one funny moment, or one thing he did to help you out he has truly left his legacy that made his life complete.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 28th at 3:00 P.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hanover.

Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Friday at The Peterson Chapel St.Michael – Albertville Funeral Home in St. Michael.

Inurnment will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

    We knew Don through the Burdick family and feel truly blessed to have met him. He was truly a great man with a wonderful heart! While we may not understand God’s timing and plan, I know that He will bring you the peace and strength you need to get through this together. You are in our prayers.

    I can’t say enough how I am to say that I knew such a wonderful man. He was taken from this world much too soon. Hold tight to all the wonderful memories that you have!

    Do not stand at my grave and weep,
    I am not there, I do not sleep.
    I am a thousand winds that blow;
    I am the diamond glints on the snow.
    I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
    I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
    When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
    I am the sweet uplifting rush
    Of quiet birds in circled flight.
    I am the soft star that shines at night.
    Do not stand at my grave and cry.
    I am not there; I did not die.
