Donald Louis Praught, age 79, of St. Michael, MN, died on Friday, September 9, 2011, surrounded by his beloved wife and family after a 2 ½ year courageous battle with cancer. He is in the hands of Jesus who gives eternal life.

He was born on May 27, 1932 in Albertville the son of Victor & Cecelia Krieger Praught.

He proudly served in the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper during the Korean War.

On October 29, 1955, Donald L. Praught & Delores M. Weinand were joined in holy marriage at The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael. God blessed their marriage with seven children.

Donald engaged in farming and worked for Linco for many years. He even operated a combine last fall.

He belonged to The International Union of Operating Engineers-Local No 49.

Donald enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, spending time with his family, attending daily Mass, traveling and spending winters in Texas.

He was a faithful, lifelong member of The Church of St. Albert in Albertville.

Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. This warm-hearted, wonderful, Catholic man will be greatly missed by his loving family (we love you dad) and friends.

Survived by his wife Delores/Mitzi; children Brad (Deb) Praught, Brenda (Curtis) Steurer, Beth Praught, Amy (Randy) Barthel, Cindy (Brian) Schmitz, twenty one grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, brother: Adrian Praught, sisters: Beatie Forsythe, Tory Wagner, Eileen Smith, Jeanne Johnson, Annae Mae Anderson, Patty Wendlant and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his daughter Terry and infant son Peter.

A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for Donald Praught was held at The Church of St. Albert’s in Albertville at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 14th

Father Kevin Anderson and Father Xavier Thelakkatt were the Concelebrants. Interment with military rites followed at St. Albert Cemetery.

A visitation was held at church on Tuesday Sept. 13th from 5-7 P.M. with rosary and prayer service at 7 P.M.

Casket Bearers were Adam Praught, Tim Praught, Tony Praught, Joe Barthel, Michael Loch and Sean O’Donnell.

The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home served the family.
