Don passed away on Thursday May 18th at the Buffalo Hospital with his close family by his side. He would have turned 82 on June 9th.
Don was tenacious in business & life. He was a husband a father of 3, grandfather of 5, a brother and a mentor to countless people throughout his career. He & his wife Janel (Nell Peacock) were married for more than 60 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grand kids and playing golf for most of his life. Don was a Veteran of the Air Force & served in Korea. He owned KVBR radio station in Brainerd & KRWC radio in Buffalo MN before moving on. He was the former President at the Minnesota News Network & one-time director of the Minnesota Broadcasters Association. Don & Nell had lived in Buffalo since 1975. He was an author & serial entrepreneur. Don was a man of integrity, lived a life of humility and will be greatly missed by the friends and family who loved him.
Don is survived by his wife Nell, his two Children Steve & Deb. His 5 grandchildren & sister Sharon. He’s preceded in death by his parents Rose & Dave. His brother Jim & his oldest son David.
Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 7 PM at The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, MN with a visitation one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

I had the pleasure of working with Don for 11 years at the Minnesota News Network. I now know the only reason I have been able to be in the radio business for over 30 years, is because of the time I spent with Don and all that I learned from him. He was my mentor, my boss and my friend. To Nell, Steve, Deb and the rest of the family, you have our deepest sympathy’s from myself and my wife Donna.
So sorry for your loss, Don was an icon in the industry.
