Donald Ervin Illies, age 71, of St. Michael passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.

He was born on June 18, 1940 in St. Michael the son of Richard & Rosella Illies.

On August 17, 1968, Donald Illies & Diana Abel were joined in holy marriage in Foreston, Minnesota. God blessed their marriage with four children.

Don worked for Dahlheimer Distributing in Monticello as a beverage driver for
more than thirty years.

Don enjoyed gardening, mowing his lawn and feeding the birds.

He was a lifelong, faithful member of The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael.

Survived by his wife: Diana; children: Nick (Michelle) Illies of St. Michael, DeeDee Ende of Rogers, Kim (Bob) Ayres of Maple Grove and Bill (Sherry) Illies of St. Michael; thirteen grandchildren: Matthew Illies, Katie Illies, April Ende, Aaron Ende, Joel Ende, Gunnar Ayres, Carson Ayres, Madison Ayres, Kori Klein, Owen Illies, Brooklyn Illies, Holly Illies and Alexis Illies; siblings: Eugene (Karen) Illies, Catherine (Frank) Zachmann, Robert (Pat) Illies all of St. Michael and Dennis (Neen) Illies of Wasilla, Alaska; many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, by two sisters: Marilyn Vetsch and Elaine Rowland, and his
first wife: Yvonne.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald Illies will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at The Church of St. Michael, 11300 Frankfort Parkway N.E., in St. Michael.

Interment St. Michael Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday morning, April 18th two hours prior to Mass at the church.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be grandchildren: Matthew Illies, Katie Illies, April Ende, Aaron Ende, Joel Ende, Gunnar Ayres, Carson Ayres, Madison Ayres, Kori Klein, Owen Illies, Brooklyn Illies, Holly Illies and Alexis Illies.

Casket Bearers will be Rick Zachmann, Joe Vetsch, Jim Vetsch, Eddie Illies, Eric Illies and Steve Illies.
