Derek James Painschab, age 31 of Buffalo, MN passed away March 31, 2023.

He was born on September 23, 1991 in Monticello, Minnesota to Jessica Painschab. Derek grew up in Buffalo where he attended high school with the class of 2010.

He was employed at Curbside Landscaping and Irrigation. It was hard and honest work he was passionate about, and loved being outdoors. He planned on starting his own landscaping business in the future where he could help others make their property beautiful.

Derek was a very kind and genuine person, who made friends wherever he went. At first he was on the quieter side, but became more outgoing as you got to know him. He was charismatic, caring, and fun to be around. Derek had a strong personality to speak his mind and stood up for his beliefs, his friends, and family. Derek was an avid fisherman, and spent a lot of his free time fishing off the shores of the lakes around the Buffalo area. He loved a warm sunny day with a cool breeze; the bliss of nature and peace. Derek’s prized quality above all was his genuine love of animals, especially his dog, Ferdinand. Derek was also known for sense of fashion; between hats and shoes to the stylish shirts he’d wear; his appearance meant a lot to him and was proud to take care of himself to always look his best.

He is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Marie Hayes and Jeanne Painschab; great-grandmother, Adelaide Reardon; and cousin, Ryan Painschab.

Derek is survived by his mother, Jessica Painschab; sisters, Anastasia Painschab and Isabella Johnson; grandparents, Terry and Joan Painschab; aunt, Tracy (Andy) Hausladen; godparents, John and Debbie Hayes; and many other relatives and friends.
