Dellia (Lien) Helgeson, age 93 of Monticello, MN, died peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at CentreCare Health in Monticello, MN. Dellia was born on July 11, 1925 in Roseau, MN to Carl O. and Stella (Praska) Lien.

She was baptized and confirmed at Moe Lutheran in Ross, MN. Dellia attended Roseau County School District #48 and completed her studies June 19, 1940.

On December 1, 1943, Dellia Lien and Lloyd Raymond Helgeson were united in marriage in Badger, MN. Their attendants were Harvey Huamstad and Delores Lien. They farmed the Helgeson homestead in Duxby, MN and had six children. In 1957, the family moved to International Falls where Lloyd was employed by Mando Paper Mill, later known as Boise Cascade.

Dellia was a member of Evangelical Mission Covenant Church. She enjoyed being a stay at home mom, and later she did some daycare, and worked for Service Master. Dellia loved to knit, crochet and embroider, put together jigsaw puzzles, read, and play bingo. Most of all, Dellia loved spending time with her family and coffeeing with friends.

Dellia is survived by her children, Beverly (Ronald) Hoffmann of Ft. Meyers, FL, Myra (Gregory) Heffner of St. Michael, MN, Raymond (Helen) Helgeson of Montrose, MN, Elvira (Allen) Gordon of International Falls, MN, Nancy (Stan) Kunkel of St. James, MN; daughter-in-law, Macaila Helgeson of San Diego, CA; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982, Lloyd Helgeson; son, Wayne, in 2019; parents; twin sister, Delores (Dan) Foss; and in-laws, Mabel, Lillian, Anne, Clarence, Alice, Nellie, Agnes, Lyda, Ella, Vernie.

A graveside service will be held on Dellia’s birthday, Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Forest Hill Cemetery in International Falls, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association.
