Visitation Information

Delilah A. “Dee” Desens, age 70 of rural Buffalo passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born on December 25, 1940 on a farm in Rockford Township. She was the daughter of Adolph & Bernice Schmidt Vergin.

She was baptized on January 9, 1941 by Pastor Samuel Baer at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on June 6, 1954 at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church by Pastor N. Kock. Her confirmation memory verse was Revelation 3:20. “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”

As a young girl she attended country school near Beebe Lake. Delilah graduated from Buffalo High School in 1959.

On May 5, 1962, Delilah A. Vergin & Vance A. Desens were joined in holy marriage at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford by Pastor W.E. Neumann. God blessed their marriage with four children.

Dee had a love for music. When she was younger, she played accordion, performing as a duet with her sister Betty. When in high school, she played trumpet in the band. For many years, she was an organist at Cross Lutheran Church and also sang in the choir. She rarely missed a musical performance that involved her son Corey.
Dee drove school bus for fourteen years for The Rockford Independent School District #883.
Dee loved being outside working with the animals. She would rather be outside than in the house and started driving tractor at age eleven on her parents farm. She and her husband Vance engaged in farming, raising beef cattle, hogs and training horses. They belonged to various driving clubs and went on drives throughout the year around central Minnesota. Her last sleigh ride was on January 29th, 2011.
Dee was a past 4-H adult leader with the Easy Riders Saddle Club. She always helped along side her husband Vance, while he served on The Wright County Fair Board.
Every man should appreciate his wife, because he does not know what he has until she is gone!

Dee is survived by her loving husband of forty nine years:Vance; Sons: Darcy (Shellee) Desens of Buffalo, Corey Desens of Minneapolis and Kerby (Colette) Desens of Rockford; three grandchildren: MaKayla age 11, Brock age 10 and Dustin age 8; two sisters: Betty Lou (George) McAlpine and Marlene (Les) Huikko all of Buffalo; many other relatives and friends, her Morgan horse “Katie” and her Golden Retriever “Taffy”.
