Dean Thomas Dehmer, age 52 of Big Lake, MN, passed away May 3, 2024.

Born on March 26, 1972 to Thomas and Judy (Geis) Dehmer, Dean grew up in St. Michael, MN, and graduated from St. Michael-Albertville High School with the class of 1990. He furthered his education at Hennepin Technical College, where he trained as a refrigeration technician; a profession he loyally practiced for nearly 35 years with the same company.

Dean was known for his ability to fix anything and also for his meticulous approach to his work. Known as “Dino” to some, he took immense pride in his work and was widely respected for his knowledge.

In 1998, Dean married Angie Marx, the love of his life, marking the beginning of a beautiful journey together. Their love for each other continued to grow with the arrival of their three children. Dean cherished his role as a husband and father, prioritizing his family by providing unwavering love and support. He was strong in his faith and led many rosaries with his family on long journeys. Dean never missed a moment to cheer on his children, attending every sporting event and school activity with pride. He was a loyal companion, father, son, brother, and friend — always there to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Dean also had a soft spot for his beloved cats.

An energetic soul, Dean was always on the move working on some kind of project or hobby. Being in the outdoors brought him solace and comfort. Whether it was casting a line while fishing, being in the woods during hunting season, or simply enjoying the warmth of a bonfire during camping trips, he was in his happy place outside.

He is preceded in death by his father, Tom; niece, Catherine; and cousin, Nick.

Dean is survived by his wife, Angie; children, Kayla, Tyler, and Zachary; mother, Judy; siblings, Danita (John) Walsh, Eric (Sara), Billy (Rachel), Randy (Jenny); in-laws, Dennis and Kim Marx, and Joyce Marx; many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at the St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.

The service will be livestreamed at:  https://www.youtube.com/live/vciGcFRq8t8?feature=shared

We always think of Dean as a kind and helpful person. I’ll never forget when Dean came to my parents home to help when their entire house lost power at a late hour. He had to be up early but he still came over ready to help the second he found out.
We pray God brings you all comfort during this difficult time. We are so deeply sorry for your loss.

    Dehmer Family,
Our deepest sympathy to you all.
I went to school with Dean. He was always kind and caring.
Our Mom (Connie) rode to work with Tom for many years and would tell us stories she heard on the ride and Dean was in many of them.
May you find peace in time.
    Our deepest sympathies and condolences.

My heart goes out to my Aunt Judy and the entire Dehmer family over the sudden loss of Dean. I have fond memories of him from my youth at Geis family reunions and visiting the Dehmers in St Michael. As I watched the service today, I was immediately encouraged by the opening song “Come to Jesus”. Certainly there is no greater consolation than that following the short time we all have on this earth, and the promise of eternal life to those who trust in His name. As the reader said, “Nothing can separate us from the love of God which is found in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:39 May the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all during this trying time. We love you all and are praying for you.
