David Lorentz passed peacefully on March 29, 2023 at the age of 85.  He was born on February 27, 1938 and raised in Howard Lake, Mn with his 11 siblings.  After high school, he attended the University of Minnesota Agricultural program and received a degree in Agriculture.

In 1957, he joined the United States Army and served our country including a tour in Germany.  In 1961 he met the love of his life, Jean and together they raised their three children, Scott, Becky and Amy in Rogers, MN on their farmstead, Maple Hill Farm.

Dave’s career was a master mechanic and manager of a Gas and Service Station in Brooklyn Center until his retirement where he established his own Auto Mechanic business, Maple Hill Auto, for the community of Rogers, Mn.  He was one of the longest serving members of the Rogers Lion Club comprising 39 years. He was President in 1993 followed by their Gambling Manager for 26 years.

Dave enjoyed being an active member of the Rogers-St. Michael community, hunting, fishing, golfing and canning his special fruit Jams, wine or liqueurs to share. Most of all, he cherished being “Papa Dave” for 38 years to his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ardis; brother, Eugene (Terry); and brother-in-law, Dick.

Recently celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary, he is survived by his wife, Jean; son, Scott (Julie); daughters, Becky (Mark) and Amy (Stuart). Papa Dave leaves behind his treasured grandchildren, Brad (Kael), Mitch, Alec (Abi), Jaclyn, Rick (Kalli), Mike (Becca), Sarah (Dave), Stephanie (Joel) and Laurengail along with several great grandchildren. His siblings, Rose, Dale (Tunnie), Eva (Royal), Albert (Marlene), Joyce (Herb), Sue (John), Leo, Shirley (Marty), Mike (Cher) and Trudy (Kelly) along with forty nine nieces and nephews.

Dave “Papa Dave” will be remembered as a Veteran that proudly served his country, the “best-looking brother”, a fun and loving husband, a hero to his children and grandchildren; and let’s not forget a legendary friend to all.

Visitation for “Papa Dave” will be on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel in St. Michael, MN.
