David Donald Winter, age 65, of Montrose, passed away at his home Friday, December 3, 2010. David was born November 11, 1945 in St. Cloud, Minnesota, the son of Edmund and Aurelia (Becker) Winter.
David lived in Watkins, Minnesota before moving to the Buffalo area 35 years ago. He was a veteran of the US Army and was also a Legionnaire. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Buffalo and enjoyed deer hunting, camping, ice fishing, coon dog racing and playing cards. He was also a huge wrestling fan, loved scratch-offs and the lottery, enjoying mowing grass and walking his dog Maggie. In 2007, he retired from the AME Group in Elk River as a cement truck driver.
David is survived by his wife, Barbara (Holm) Winter; daughters, Kelly (Shawn) Mortenson, Tami (Dave) Berg and Heidi (Andy) Donnay; brother, Harold Winter; special sister, Paola Silveria of Brazil; grandchildren, Sammy and Zach Berg and Kayla, Luke, Hannah, Logan, Brandon and Blake Donnay.
David was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Sharon Winter.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:30am Tuesday, December 7, 2010 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8pm at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo assisted the family with arrangements.
