AT THE CHURCH

4-8 P.M.

Further visitation Friday morning, December 18th at the church from 10:00 A.M. till time of services.

Daniel Lee Reckard was born on April 24th, 1970 in Shakopee, MN. Dan was the son of Eldon and Linda (Arndt) Reckard.

He lived in Shakopee, Eagle Lake, and Prior Lake with his brother Michael. As a child he loved the outdoors, riding bicycle, and sports. When he was a sophomore, a pretty young girl moved into our neighborhood two doors down. After graduating high school in 1988 and 4 years of college at NDSU in Fargo, he married that pretty girl.

Dan married Dawn Deal on August 1st, 1992 at Elim Lutheran Church in Scandia, MN. They moved to Minnetonka and on April 28th, 1994 they were blessed with a bouncing baby girl, Hannah Marie. A short move to Coon Rapids followed. In 1997 Dan built a home in Saint Michael, MN. They not only had a brand new home but also added a brand new baby boy, Cody Daniel, born on July 15, 1997. But, more adventure was to follow. A bright blue eyed, blonde hair millennium baby boy arrived, Beau Daniel, on April 18th.

After college Dan went to work at D.J. Kranz Company as a project manager, and has been with them for the past 22 years working on various projects including automotive, office, retail, manufacturing, medical, and dental clinics.

In Dan’s own words he said, “I enjoy the outdoors-especially in the mountains of the west- hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, etc.” We found this quote in his work bio and truer words were never spoken. He loved and so looked forward to the annual trip out west with his good friends and cousins Todd and Troy, his uncle Vern, and other friends and relatives. One of the highlights of his life was when his son Cody was able to join him on a trip.

Dan coached baseball and hockey for all the years his boys were growing up and in 2012-2013 won the STMA Youth Hockey Coach of the Year Award. His greatest joy was to watch all these young players learn, mature, and grow. He was also involved in his daughter Hannah’s dance recitals and competitions as an active audience participant. Though despite continuous encouragement, never did participate in the father daughter dance. And recently enjoyed watching Beau play lacrosse.

Loved and will be deeply missed, Dan is survived by his wife Dawn of 23 years, daughter Hannah (21), sons Cody (18) and Beau (15), brother Michael (Carolyn) Reckard of Apple Valley, parents Eldon and Linda (Arndt) Reckard of Prior Lake, nieces Hadley and Cecilia, mother-in-law, Deanna Deal, uncles, aunts, cousins, and many friends.

Sending prayers, peace, comfort and hugs to you all. Dan was a pretty special person. I will cherish my childhood memories of him while we lived in Eagle Lake and after the family moved to Prior Lake. Take care.

Dear Eldon & family; Our sympathies to you with the loss of your son. We don’t know what to say. It’s always devastating to lose a loved one. To lose a child and so suddenly is especially overwhelming. Prayerfully your faith, the love & support of family and friends will bring you comfort. Know that Dan is in a better place with a perfect mind and body and that you will see him again. “Knowing that He which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.” 2 Cor 4:14. Dawn and children; Our thoughts and prayers are with you at your time of loss. May the celebration of Dan’s life bring you support of friends and family. Dawn you once told me I was a very strong lady when I met you. You, my dear, are right in those shoes with being strong. My words to you and your kids take one day at a time, give yourselves time to remember and grieve. Talk often about the Love of your life. If you need anything from Katie and myself please let us know.
Love to you, Barb & Katie Hukriede
