Daniel “Dan” George Heiling, age 77 of Albertville, Minnesota passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. He was born on November 20, 1946 the son of Paul Heiling and Ann (Weltsch) Heiling in Morgan, Minnesota.

Dan grew up and graduated in Morgan before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1966. He honorably served his country and received a National Defense Service Medal and the Rifle Marksman Shooter Badge and was a Vietnam Veteran.

He worked in manufacturing where he met the love of his life, Joyce.  They were joined in marriage on August 30, 1980. Dan continued to be employed in inventory control for Parker Hannifin Corporation for 37 years. They moved from Andover to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 2003 until they retired and returned to live near their children. They also spent some winters in Tucson, Arizona.

Dan loved college football, especially the Golden Gophers. He enjoyed grilling brats, family gatherings, and donating to the casinos.  He always made sure there was a cold beverage when you came to visit.

Grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he enjoyed attending all of their activities.

Dan is survived by his loving wife; Joyce, children; Bridgette (Brad Maki), Lisa (Chad McLearen), Brian Harvala, grandchildren; Hailie, Jaxon, Brielle, Grant and Avery.  Sister, Mary Ellen Schunk, brother Norman Heiling and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death; by parents, Paul and Ann, sister Pauline and brother-in-law Alfred Smude, sister, Mary Ann and brother-in-law Melvin Stern, brother-in-law Vincent Schunk and nephew Ronald Schunk, and sister-in-law Sharon Heiling.

A visitation for Dan Heiling will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 12:00 P.M. (Noon) to 2:00 PM at The Peterson Chapel, St. Michael – Albertville Chapel in St. Michael, Minnesota. Dan’s family welcomes you to join us at the St. Michael Legion after the visitation for a celebratory beverage.

Private inurnment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with Military Honors in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
