Clarence Theodore Oswald, age 92, of St. Michael & formerly of Corcoran passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 28th, 2012.

Clarence was born on September 17, 1919 in Corcoran the son of William & Emma Deisting Oswald.

He was baptized at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Corcoran. Clarence was also instructed in The Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Corcoran by Pastor Klemp. His confirmation memory verse was Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

He graduated from Osseo High School.

On November 14, 1953 Clarence T. Oswald and Donna Mae Louise Tiemann
were joined in holy marriage at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Corcoran. God blessed their marriage with two daughters.

He was born on, raised and engaged in dairy farming on his family’s homestead in Corcoran. Clarence and Donna moved from the family’s homestead in 2000 and purchased a home in rural St. Michael.

Clarence enjoyed playing cards, farming, reading and The Minnesota Twins.

He was a faithful, lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Maple Grove. Clarence formerly served on Church’s School Board, was an elder and a longtime greeter.

Preceded in death by parents: William & Emma Oswald, sisters: Bernice Williams, Mildred Zumwalt and June Tessman, father in law & mother-in-law: William & Mabel Tiemann, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: Arthur Klemp, Delrose Keppel, Joe Williams and Bob Zumwalt.

Survived by loving wife of fifty-nine years: Donna (Tiemann) Oswald; two daughters: Renae Oswald Anderson (Fred) and Joyce Oswald Meuleners (Mike); four grandchildren: Leigha & Karah and Dustin & Kelly; sisters: Dorothy Jones (Newel) & Myrtle Klemp; brothers in law & sisters-in-law: Ronald & Katie Tiemann, Elwyn & JoAnne Manthei, Eldon & Addie Tessman; many other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday, August 31st from 4-8 P.M. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Friday evening.

Further visitation will be held at the church on Saturday morning, September 1st one hour prior to services.

Funeral services for Clarence Oswald will be held on Saturday, September 1st at 11:00 A.M. St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9141 County Road #101, in Maple Grove.

Honorary Casket Bearer will be Mark Tessman.

Casket Bearers will be Joel Klemp, Dale Keppel, Jim Keppel, Randy Manthei, Doug Manthei, Harold Schmidt, Dick Johnson and Mike Anderson.
