He was born on September 12th, 1940 in Waverly the son of Walter & Rosella (Eicher) Stumpf. Chuck was raised on a farm in Waverly.

After Chuck married Gayle he began working for his father-in-law Harold at Ruff Auto Parts in Monticello picking up junk cars. Several years later they incorporated and Chuck became a partner. After Harold retired Chuck became president of Ruff Auto until a massive stroke forced him to retire in May of 1997.

He enjoyed drag racing his 1955 Chevy, fishing and hunting trips, trucking in his semi, trips to Tucson, Arizona, bingo, spending time with his grandkids and most of all working. Chuck never spent a moment idle.

Chuck was a former President of The Men’s Club at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Monticello. He also served on the Monticello Fire Department and on The City of Monticello’s Planning Commission. He did a lot of volunteering for The City of Monticello.

The Stumpf family, so sorry to hear about Chuck, he was such a friend and help, to our mom, Anna Duerr, while she was at Park View. He was her bingo partner and help, when she was having trouble keeping up the last year or so of her life. It was fun talking to him about his cars, we loved visiting with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you, Toni and Tony
