June 9, 1986 – May 25, 2024

Christina “Christy” Marie Pickford, age 37, of Minnetonka, MN, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2024, after a brief and aggressive battle with cancer. Christy, known for her contagious smile and sassy wit, will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her deep love of drawing, painting, and sculpting, and her passion for traveling, especially to France and Italy, will be cherished by all.

Christy is survived by her loving parents, Steven “Mick” and Carol Pickford of Minnetonka, MN; sister Amy (Mike) Runion of Pahrump, NV; sister Kelly (Adam) Connelly of Buffalo, MN; nieces Eleanor “Ellie” and Charlotte “Charlie” Connelly of Buffalo, MN; and many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, John “Jack” and Mary Pickford; and maternal grandparents, Robert and Patricia Bernard.

Christy graduated from Minnetonka High School and attended Saint Mary’s University of MN. In July 2007, shortly after her 21st birthday and right before beginning her final year of college, Christy was involved in a terrible accident, resulting in a traumatic brain injury that left her wheelchair bound and nonverbal. Christy’s incredible will to live allowed her to spend nearly seventeen more years with the ones she loved.

Christy was an amazing daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her contagious smile and sassy wit were no match for her brain injury, and she would often be found typing out a sarcastic remark or two, usually at the willing expense of her parents and sisters. No puppy could escape her undying devotion and she never lit up as bright as she did when she saw her two beautiful nieces.

A visitation and memorial service to celebrate Christy’s life will be held on Sunday, June 2nd, at Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, MN. The visitation will begin at 1:00, with the memorial service to follow at 2:00.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Christy’s honor to the Brain Trauma Foundation (braintrauma.org).

    We will all miss Christy’s smile and wonderful artistic talents. The Saint Mary’s community , the Art and Design faculty, and her many friends and fellow students have kept her, and your family, in our prayers over these years.
    She is at peace, and her spirit continues to inspire us all.

    Stev;
    Although we haven’t had much contact over the years, I consider our times spent in Glacier and beyond some of the best of my life. Losing a child is the worst of what can happen to a parent. My mother and sister both lost a child. My sister was only 2 but my nephew was 17. You and your family have our sincere sympathy.

    I remember her from my SMU days. She was the very essence of life. Her smile and being. As an introvert, I will always remember her kindness and inclusion. I am truly sorry for your loss.
