Chloe Elizabeth, 12 years old, passed away peacefully in her home, early in the morning, on Friday, May 17, 2024; surrounded by her family. She went to be with her Lord and Savior after a courageous, nearly 13 month long, battle with stage 4 glioblastoma (an aggressive brain cancer). Through all her treatments, surgeries, blood draws and infusions she was courageous. She never felt sorry for herself, she chose to live, live her best life no matter the circumstances, bringing positivity and laughter wherever possible.

Chloe was born on August 17, 2011, in Buffalo, Minnesota, to James and Tessa (Dille) Schumacher. She lived in Buffalo with her family until they moved to Helena, Montana in 2018.

She went to preschool and kindergarten in Rockford, MN. Next, she attended Rossiter Elementary in Helena, MT 1st through 5th grade. In April 2023 she was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma and everything changed for Chloe. After her surgery, radiation and chemo treatments in Rochester, MN, she entered 6th grade in the fall of 2023 at CR Anderson Middle School, Helena. There she was excited to learn to play the violin. But unfortunately, symptoms from her treatment eventually made it impossible for her to attend school in person.

Chloe was a loving big sister that liked to be silly and make her brother and sisters laugh. She was known to play the occasional prank that would end in surprise and laughter. She also enjoyed swimming, fishing, hiking, taking goat walks with her family, and looking for just the right shaped rock to use as a canvas for her next painting.

She was exceptionally artistic, no matter the medium, she loved them all. If there was paper and anything to draw with close at hand, she was creating. Chloe also delighted in painting pictures. She loved nature, animals in particular, and was actively involved in the small hobby farm her parents started. Holding the baby animals gave her joy.

At a young age Chloe was on the move, so it was only natural to bring her to gymnastics class. She became a competitive gymnast at Gym406 in Helena and her favorite event was floor. Being in the gym and practicing her skills at home was second nature to her.

Chloe’s life on this earth was not nearly long enough. Only a love so deep could hurt this much, we are grateful God gave you to us.

“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’” Matthew 19:14.

Chloe is survived by her parents, James and Tessa (Dille) Schumacher, her brother, Evan James (10) and her two sisters, Madelyn Grace (7) and Clara Josephine (4). Also survived by Grandparents Ian and Pamela (Dille) Rich, Sooke, Canada; Jeff Jensen, Rockford, MN and Scott Schumacher, Silver Bay, MN, as well as many Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her Grandpa Lee Dille, Buffalo, MN and her Nana Karen Jensen, Rockford, MN.

A Celebration of Chloe’s life is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Helena First, 2210 Dodge Ave., with a reception to follow the service at the church. Burial will be held at the Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford, MN.
