Charles Henry Hafften, age 78, of River Falls,Wisconsin & formerly of the Buffalo area passed away on Wednesday, January 13th, 2010 at his daughter Shelley’s home in Buffalo.

He was born on May 14, 1931 in Loretto the son of Emery & Lillian Awe Hafften.

Charles grew up near Rockford.

Charles honorably served his Country in The United States Navy.

On April 9, 1955, Charles H. Hafften & Verna Griese were joined in holy marriage at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield by Reverend W. P Haar. God blessed their marriage with four children.

He was formerly employed as a parts inspector for Catepillar, Inc.

Charles enjoyed deer hunting & fishing, with his brother and nephew, and was a huge Vikings fan.

Charles was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in River Falls and formerly Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Delano.

Survived by his loving wife: Verna Hafften; children: Steve (Xueling) Hafften of Sacramento, California, Bruce (Rita) Hafften of Cokato, Shelley (Joe) Hopkins of Buffalo and Julie (Troy) Gore of Hudson, Wisconin; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild; a brother: Donald (June) Hafften of Rochester; sisters: Margie Bauer of Oregon and Gladie Berheim of Tucson; a sister-in-law: Kathy Hafften of Buffalo; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Roger Hafften and by a brother-in-law: Gordon Bauer.

Funeral services for Charles Hafften will be held on Friday, January 15th at 1:00 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

Interment will be held on Tuesday, January 19th at 11:00 A.M. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Special music will be “Rock of Ages” and “How Great Thou Art”.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 15th one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Casket Bearers will be Dane Hansen, Troy Hafften, Larry Hafften, Greg Hafften, Doug Hafften and David Hafften.

The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo is serving the family.
