Carol Jean (Wickey-Dammen) Blesener, 73
January 14, 1944 – December 4, 2017
Carol’s work here on earth was fulfilled at 3:50am on December 4, 2017, with her family by her side at home in Saint Michael, MN. Her new mission takes her to a place where she will be socializing, laughing, gardening and reading to her heart’s content. Her early Christmas wish would have been to instruct her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed. Knowing and loving each one was the success story of her life.
She was born in Woodford, WI as the 3rd daughter to Peter and Irene Wickey. She left WI to live in Mesa, AZ then to Eden Prairie, MN to marry Charles Blesener in 1987. They later moved to St. Michael and enjoyed being active in their community.
Carol had a love for all things beautiful. She had a professional career for more than 40 years as a hairdresser which spanned from elite salons to performing her talents in a senior living/nursing home to lovingly giving her granddaughter her first haircut. She also cultivated that beauty by gardening, cooking and home decorating with her loving husband of 30 years. Together they enjoyed serving their neighborhood and church communities, as well as the National Red Cross where she was able to display her talents of amazing organization and gifts of her time.
She was an active member of Saint Michael Catholic Church where she served from her heart in many different ways including the nursery, mass coordinator and funeral luncheon coordinator (she even helped to plan her own!).
Carol is survived by her husband Charles (Chuck); her 3 sisters, Alice, Shirley and Betty; her son Ken and daughter-in-law Karen; her daughter Lori; her step-sons, Rod and daughter-in-law Janelle, Steve and daughter-in-law Diane; and her grandchildren, Megan, Maddie, Grace, Nate, Jeff, and Jenny. She was also excited for the new additions of great-grandchildren and to hear of the recent news of more great-grandchildren, including a set of twins, expected in the spring.
Carol’s family would like to thank her oncology doctors as well as Hospice for making her last few weeks more comfortable.
A Review of Carol’s life will take place at The Saint Michael Catholic Church, 11300 Frankfort Pkwy N.E. in St. Michael, MN on Thursday, December 7th from 10am with a Mass to follow at 11am.
