Carl Robert Mutterer

Age 80 of Buffalo, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo. He was born on September 3, 1935 in Rockford, the son of Edward H. and Esther W. (Bleck) Mutterer.

Carl was baptized in his faith on October 6, 1935 at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford by Rev. Nitz. He was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on June 5, 1949 at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford by Rev. Kock.

Carl is a 1953 graduate of Rockford High School. He joined the Army Reserves, serving in 1958 obtaining the rank of PVT E-2.

Carl was a farmer, retiring in 1989. After retirement, he went to work at Linfor Inc. Fabricators in Plymouth for 16 years.

On June 30, 1963, Carl Mutterer and Evelyn Dewey were joined in marriage at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford by Pastor W.E. Neumann. The two were blessed with three children, Tim, Christine and Daniel.

Carl was a charter member for West Lutheran High School in Plymouth. He enjoyed reading, gardening, polka music, and listening to the radio.

Preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Esther Mutterer; brother, Leonard Mutterer; and brother-in-law, Frank Dewey.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Mutterer; children, Tim Mutterer, Christine (Lee) Hallman, Daniel Mutterer; granddaughters, Jordan Mutterer, Alexandra Mutterer and Brittney Mutterer, all of Buffalo; brother, Eugene (Arlene) Mutterer of Rockford; brother-in-law, John (Gloria) Dewey of Chaska; sister-in-law, Lupe Dewey of Hopkins; nieces, Connie (Duane) Brown, Elizabeth Dewey, Jennifer Rogers, Tessina (Tony) Mancino, Betty Jean Dewey; and nephews, Paul (Diane) Mutterer, Cesar Dewey.

Honorary casket bearers will be Carl’s granddaughters, Jordan Mutterer, Alexandra Mutterer and Brittney Mutterer.

Casket bearers will be Daniel Mutterer, Paul Mutterer, Tim Mutterer, Duane Brown and Shannon Harris.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 4 to 8 PM with a prayer service held at 7:30 PM at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford. Further visitation will be held one hour prior to services at church.

Funeral services for Carl Mutterer will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford with Pastor Michael Barlow as officiant. Connie Brown is the organist. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to West Lutheran High School in Plymouth.
