Brenda Jean Hicks, age 57, of Buffalo was called Home on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at her home.
She was born on June 23, 1958 in Buffalo, the daughter of Darrell E. and Darlene D. (Dietz) Hicks.
Brenda was baptized in her faith on August 10, 1958 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo. She was instructed in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on May 7, 1972 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
Brenda is a 1976 graduate of Buffalo High School. While in high school, she was prom queen and homecoming queen, and she was involved in cheerleading, gymnastics and school musicals.
She was a faithful employee at the family business, Buffalo Bituminous, Inc.
Brenda was extremely intelligent and artistic with painting and drawing. She enjoyed traveling, Harley riding, tattoos, and especially time spent with her grandchildren and family. She was a proud member of the Buffalo American Legion Post 270.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Darlene Hicks; grandmothers, Dorothy Dietz and Florence Hicks; and her dogs, Bandit and Harley.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Berg; children, Nicholas (Elizabeth) Zumbusch, Breia D (Ryan) Gaskill; grandchildren, Casper Gaskill, Hadley Zumbusch, Briar Zumbusch, Leon Gaskill; father, Darrell Hicks; siblings, Chuck (Denise) Hicks, Greg (Sue) Hicks, Darla Hicks Larson (Jim Benson); dogs, Chance, Jack, Suzette; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Honorary casket bearers are Tony Hicks, Jim Benson, and Ronn Larson.
Casket bearers are Annukka Neumann, Eric Hicks, Mat Larson, Ronnel Balliet, and Andy Hicks.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo. Further visitation will be held at church one hour prior to services. Funeral services for Brenda Hicks will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Animal Humane Society.
