Blanche Marie Mattsen was born January 28th 1931, to Alvina (Parsons) and Roger E Davis, in Brook Park, Minnesota. She was the 4th child in a family of eight. She attended Mora High School and married Vernon Mattsen in August of 1950. They proceeded to have 6 children. Their marriage ended in divorce September 1983.

She was all about family. She sewed, canned, froze food, and baked for her family. She was an awesome baker, so the Mattsen Clan were spoiled with baked bread, rolls, sweet rolls, cakes, pies, and cookies all made from scratch. She learned this talent as a young girl and 4H. Her wood oven baked loaf of bread won Grand Prize at the Kanabec County fair and third place at the Minnesota State Fair. As her children left the nest, she became a Mary Kay beauty consultant and developed an artistic flair for ceramics.

She loved to laugh at herself and others. She purposely did silly, if not somewhat embarrassing, things for a laugh and her eyes were always smiling. She frequently did not filter what she said, so we always knew what she was thinking. She loved getting together with friends to play cards, drink coffee, and conversation.

She passed quietly and comfortably at the JA Wedum Hospice Residence on November 23rd 2015. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Roger and Alvina Davis; her step-mother, Effie Davis; her brothers, Wilbur and Ron; and her sister, Ginger Kadlec.

She is survived by her children, Betty, Ken (Mary), LeRoy, Dan, Michelle (Val) Kraljic, and Cheryl; granddaughters, Nicole, Krystal, Annie and Katarina; great-grandsons, Austin and Daniel; her sisters, Lorene Sherman, Carol Hanson, Betty Lawrence; and brother, Howard.

She will be remembered as a down to earth person who, loved to laugh, and knew what was important in life. In her honor, the family requests guests wear blue, her favorite color, to celebrate her life at the service.

Visitation for Blanche will be held Friday, November 27, 2015 from 5 to 8 PM with prayer service and time of sharing at 7 PM at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael/Albertville Funeral Home, 300 Main Street North, St. Michael. Further visitation will be held one hour prior to mass at church on Saturday.
Mass of Christian Burial for Blanche Mattsen will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015, 12:00 PM at St. Michael Catholic Church, 11300 Frankfort Parkway Northeast, St. Michael. Interment at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Michael.
