Berniece Bertha Anna Sommers, 78, died, surrounded by her family in Monticello Monday, October 29th, 2007.

On April 20th, 1929, in Silver Creek Township, Friedrich ˜Fred™ and Anna (nee Oestreich) Hoese were blessed with a daughter and named her Berniece Bertha Anna Hoese. Her children and grandchildren gave her great pleasure in life. She was an excellent cook and no recipe was ever too challenging. She mastered skills in sewing, quilting, and crafting. She loved the companionship of her pets Charlie Dog and Buddy. Her time spent at the historical Ames-Florida-Stork House in Rockford was a labor of love. Berniece was always a loyal Twins fan, a crossword puzzle fanatic, and active volunteer.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Edward Sommers; parents: Fred and Anna Hoese; brothers: Art, Donald and Marvin Hoese; and sisters: Adella Peterson, Elvera Pautsch, Alice Rucks, and Viola White and 4 others that passed at birth.

Berniece is survived by her children: Linda (Richard) Sturges of Silver Lake, Jeanette (Dave) Stoddard of Monticello, Debbie (Charles) May of Cold Spring and Charlie (Karla) Sommers of Rogers; grandchildren: Jason Spike, Matthew Stoddard, Nic Stoddard, Ricky May, Corey May, Kristi May, Jaxon Sommers, and Isabel Sommers; sister: Louise Limbourne; brothers: Ralph (Delores) Hoese and Ervin (Jeannette) Hoese; nephews, nieces and many friends.

Berniece™s funeral service will be Wednesday, October 31st, 2007 at 1 pm at The Peterson Chapel, St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home. There will be a 1 hour visitation prior to the start of the service.

Casket bearers: Matthew Stoddard, Nic Stoddard, Ricky May, Corey May, Kristi May, Jaxon Sommers, and Isabel Sommers.

Interment will be at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Buffalo.
