Bernice Minna Hohenstein, age 88, of Greenfield passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 26th, 2013 at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo.
She was born on June 9, 1924 in Greenwood Township, Hennepin County the daughter of Edward & Ida (Bechtold) Hohenstein.
On July 6, 1924, Bernice M. Hohenstein was baptized by Pastor W. Haar at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield. She was instructed and confirmed in the Christian faith on April 10, 1938 by Pastor W.P. Haar at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her Confirmation memory verse was Deuteronomy 33:12
Bernice was a homemaker and loved living on the family farm, but most of all she loved her Savior, Jesus Christ and was a faithful lifelong member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. She had also been a member of the Church choir.
Survived by many cousins, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents: Edward & Ida Hohenstein, sister Elaine Hohenstein and brother Reinhard Hohenstein.
Funeral services for Bernice Hohenstein will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield, Minnesota. Pastor Dennis K. Strong will officiate. Interment will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral services on Tuesday, April 30 and a lunch will be served following the services.
Memorials preferred to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greenfield, Minnesota.
Casket Bearers will be Timothy Bechtold, Karl Hohenstein, Ronald Kohnen, James Schendel, Gary Schutte and Philip Schutte.
