Bernice Helen (Eckes) Vetsch, age 93, of Albertville passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Park View Care Center in Buffalo.

She was born on April 27, 1916 in Fletcher the daughter of Fred & Rose Scherber Eckes.

On September 14, 1938, Bernice H. Eckes and Alvin J. Vetsch were joined in holy marriage at St. Walburga Catholic Church in Fletcher. Following their marriage, Mr. & Mrs. Vetsch engaged in dairy farming west of Albertville for many years.

Bernice was a faithful member of The Church of St. Albert in Albertville and belonged to its Christian Mothers.

Survived by children: Janet (John) Dahlheimer of Dayton, Dennis (Leona) Vetsch of Albertville, Judy Forsythe of Bloomington, Doug (Betsy) Vetsch of Albertville, Marilyn “Cheech” (Dennis) Dahl of Dawson, Mary Kay Vetsch (Sue Warn) of Merrifield, Mn. & Barb (John) Gangl of White Bear Lake; daughter-in-law: Betty Vetsch; twenty nine grandchildren; fifty eight great grandchildren; sisters: Helene Trombley of Champlin & Loretta (Jerry) Munn of Monticello; a brother-in-law & sisters-in-law; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband: Alvin in 1995, a daughter: Mary Jane in 1941, sons: Joey in 1963 and Dale in 2006, a grandson: John Dahlheimer, a great grandson: Porter Dahl, her parents: Frederick & Rose Eckes and by two brothers: Vernon and Roman Eckes.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice Vetsch will be held on Wednesday, January 13th at 11:00 A.M. at The Church of St. Albert in Albertville. Father Xavier will be the Celebrant.

Interment will follow at St. Albert’s Cemetery.

Eucharistic Minister will be Bethany Vetsch. Gift Bearers will be Lynn Black, Rebecca Vetsch and Stephanie Colores. Servers Shana & Logan Vetsch. Lectors Rochelle Holmen & Michelle Langefels.

A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, January 12th from 4-8 P.M. A Prayer service will be held at 8:00 P.M.

A Christian Mother’s Rosary will be recited at 9:15 Wednesday morning, January 13th at the church. Further visitation will be held on Wednesday morning, January 13th at the Church beginning at 9:30 A.M.

Honorary Casket Bearers were Bernice’s Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

Casket Bearers were Todd Dahlheimer, Tony Barthel, James Forsythe, Paul Vetsch, Brandon Dahl, Jon Vetsch and Phillip Lundberg.

A Speical Thank you to Park View Care Center and Elim Guardian Angels Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Faith’s Lodge in Webster, Wisconsin.
