Bernard Jerome Roden, age 84, of Albertville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 28, 2016. Bernard was born January 2, 1932 in Otsego Township, Minnesota, the son of Rudolph Stephen and Anna Agnes (Kirscht) Roden.

Bernard graduated from Elk River High School in 1950. He was a proud US Marine Corps Veteran, and volunteered on the Albertville Fire Department for 29 years. He was a lifelong farmer and hard worker. He enjoyed anything outdoors -including fishing and snowmobiling, playing cards, watching sports, and time spent with his family.

He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at St. Albert’s Catholic Church in Albertville, MN and was a faithful parish member.

On September 11, 1971 Bernard Jerome Roden and Judith Anna Haman were united in marriage at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton, MN by Father Virnig.

Preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Carol Rae Roden; siblings, Gerald (Eleanor) Roden, Clifford Roden, Lucille (Victor) Weinzetl, Erwin Roden, Eleanor Nash; and brother-in-law, Orville Vetsch.

Bernard is survived by his loving wife, Judith Roden of Albertville; children, Allan (Angie) Roden of Monticello, Kevin (Anita) Roden of Albertville, Carmen (Tim) Von Ruden of Claremont, Brian (Kelly) Roden of Milaca; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Del Rose (Richard) Bender, Marlene Vetsch, Ronald (Nancy) Roden; siblings-in-law, Pearl Roden, Loretta Roden, Jim Nash; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation Sunday, January 31, 2016, 4 to 8 PM with prayer service at 7 PM at the church. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, February 1, 2016, 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior at St. Albert’s Catholic Church in Albertville; Father Joah Ellis will be celebrant. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Bernard’s grandsons: Derek Roden, Aaron Roden, Tyler Roden, Nathan Roden, Joseph Von Ruden, Andrew Roden, and Seth Roden.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to a charity of donor’s choice in Bernard’s name.

Serving the family is the Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home in St. Michael. 763-497-5362.
