Benjamin A. Marquette, age 77, of Maple Lake passed away at his home on Friday, January 22, 2010.

He was born on August 5, 1932 in Buffalo the son of Ralph and Ida Hoffman Marquette.

Benjamin was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Browns Valley, Minnesota.

He honorably served his Country in The United States Army in Korea.

On October 16, 1954, Benjamin Marquette and Myrtle Kaufman were joined in holy marriage.

Ben was employed in construction, at Lake Region Co-op and was also self employed for many years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting with friends and relatives and playing cards.

Benjamin is survived by his wife “Mert” of fifty five years; daughters: Nancy (Dean) Sorenson of Spearfish, South Dakota and Laurie Neddermeyer (Kirt Stuve) of South Haven; granddaughters: Tina Stevens, Tanya Piekkola, Sarah Anderson, Melissa (Alex) Koop; great grandchildren: Jordan Stevens, Kailey & Breahna Piekkola and Abrahm Koop; brothers: Floyd “Bud”, Clyde (Bernadine Buranen), Douglas (Elaine), Myles (Irene), Ervin (Carol), Dennis (Jan) and Clark “Butch” Marquette; a sister: Ida “Maggie” Alama; sisters-in-law: Delia Marquette, Celia Marquette and Joyce Kaufman; many nieces & nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Ralph & Ida, brothers: Gene & John Marquette and by a sister: Pauline Stumpf.

Funeral services for Benjamin Marquette will be held on Tuesday, January 26th at 11:00 A.M. at United Church of Christ in Maple Lake. Pastor Jeffrey Palmer will officiate.

Interment with military rites will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.

Myrna Jude will be the organist for the funeral service.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 25th from 4-8 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

Further visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 26th one hour prior to services at the church.

Casket Bearers will be Roger Stumpf, Donald Marquette Jr., Al Moon, Michael Elsenpeter, Ernest Marquette and Robert Lacina Jr.
