Barbara Jo Waltz, passed away on October 3, 2023 at the age of 86. Born on December 30, 1936, in Minneapolis, she was the daughter of Ralph and Hazel (Petersen) Nordeen.

Barbara’s life journey took her from the heart of Minneapolis to California where she raised a family in Canoga Park before returning to Minnesota in 1984. She was employed at Target Corporation, where she retired in December 2011, after many years of dedicated service.

One of Barbara’s greatest passions was her involvement as a Girl Scout leader. She touched the lives of countless young girls, mentoring and guiding them with love and care.

Barbara was an avid and passionate fan of the Minnesota Wild Hockey team, often cheering them on with enthusiasm. She had a zest for life and a sense of adventure, which she frequently expressed through her love of travel. Barbara enjoyed exploring new places with her Family; they ventured to New York, Disney World, Europe, and her absolute favorite destination, New Orleans. She loved the unique blend of food and atmosphere the city provided.

Barbara enjoyed quiet moments too, often found engrossed in a game of solitaire, caring for her cherished fur babies, and, above all else, spending time with her beloved children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her love and devotion to her family were immeasurable, and she treasured each moment spent with them.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Hazel; and brother, Dick. She is also reunited with her beloved dogs, Nissa, Skyler and Toby.

Barbara is survived by her children, Diana Waltz and Scott (Peggy) Waltz; grandchildren, Rob (Kaylie) Voss and Matt (Kimberly) Voss; great-grandchildren, Simon, Robin, Landon, and Noah; and her dog, Max.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Barbara’s memory to the American Cancer Society.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at The Peterson Chapel in St. Michael-Albertville.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to The Peterson Chapel of St. Michael-Albertville. Online condolences for the family may be directed to www.thepetersonchapel.com
