August Martin Henry Bruska Jr., age 88, of Buffalo, passed away peacefully November 27, 2014 at his home. August was born on January 30th, 1926 on the family farm east of Buffalo to August and Bertha (Zitzlaff). August was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church (Pelican Lake). As a young adult, August moved to his current farm which is a mile down the road from the home farm. On May 29, 1954, August and Verona (Marquette) were married and were blessed with four children. Preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, his wife Verona, son-in-law Claude “Chuck” Westman and by two infant grandchildren. August will be missed by children: Leona Westman, Lyle Bruska, Darlene (Jeffrey) Hegstrom and Nila (Steven) Bragg; grandchildren: Valerie Westman, Robert Westman, Timothy (Megan) Hegstrom, Susan Hegstrom, Imogene Bragg (fiancé Michael Thielen) and by Seth Bragg; step grandchildren: Nathan (Mary Ann) Bragg and Ethan Bragg; 1 great grandchild and 3 step great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and family. August farmed for all his life and took on outside jobs with the phone company, fixing wires on the telephone poles. After retiring from farming he worked in his garden and orchard, playing cards and dancing at the senior center in the summer, fish and speared all winter, and traveled when something of interest came along. Spending time and teaching what he knew was his most generous gifts to all!

I am very sorry for your family’s loss. Please take comfort in the promise God makes in the Bible at Revelation 21:3, 4 where it says “He will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more.” I have drawn much comfort from this and hope you can draw comfort as well.

So sorry for your loss. Just learned of his passing today, sorry we missed the services. We will always remember him as a kind man who liked to help everyone. Will always cherish the cold days spent cutting and wrapping meat in the meat house with Uncle August.
