Arnold S. Rude, age 96 of Buffalo, MN formally of Cannon Falls, MN passed away at his son’s home early Thursday morning, March 20, 2014. Funeral service on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Buffalo, MN. Visitation one hour prior to service at the church. Interment Cannon Falls Cemetery, Cannon Falls, MN.
Arnold was born on February 12, 1918 in Beresford, South Dakota, the oldest son of Edward & Cora (Lunning) Rude. Arnold served his country in the US Army during WWII from October 8, 1941 to October 23, 1945. He served 20 of those months in the Aleutians Islands. Arnold married Maxine Joy Nelson on June 11, 1945 at First Lutheran Church in St. Paul. They shared almost 52 years of marriage. Arnold farmed near Cannon Falls for many years & when he retired from farming he became the head of maintenance for Mineral Springs Rehabilitation Center. In 1997 he moved to Buffalo, MN. He volunteered at the Discovery School for 14 years & was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Cora Rude his soulmate, Maxine Rude, son, Mark Rude & two brothers, Curtis & Orvis Rude.
Survived by two sons; Keith (Debbie) Rude & Dennis (Averyl) Rude; 8 grandchildren, Karen (Jacob) Driskill, Kathy (Shane) Reding, Becky Rude, Vincent Rude, Emma Rude, Aileen Rude, Meredith Rude & Lawton Rude; 5 great-grandchildren, Ella, Maggie & Norah Reding, Caleb & Graham Driskill; a brother: Defloren (Edna) Rude; and by a sister-in-law: Clarice (Orvin) Burnside.
