Growing up on the farm, Arnold learned the value of hard work, an ideal that served him well throughout his life.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Buffalo for the past 60 years.
As a young man, Arnold was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1941. He served as a water supply technician and First Sergeant. In April 1942 he was one of the first soldiers to arrive at the newly established Desert Training Center in California under the command of General George Patton. While in Europe he served at the Battle of the Bulge. Later he was transferred to Okinawa preparing for the invasion of Japan. Arnold was discharged in December 1945, he then returned home.
On April 14, 1946 he was united in marriage to, Adeline Marohn at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Monticello, MN. They lovingly shared 66 years together.
In 1948, Arnold and his wife purchased a farm southwest of Maple Lake and farmed for many years, and residing there the remainder of his life. During the early years of farming he owned and operated a mobile feed mill. He was employed several years by Lakedale Telephone Company and work in the construction industry, retiring from Alexander Construction in 1980. During his retirement, he continued to operate his farm and was an avid gardener growing grapes, apples and vegetables of all kinds. His pride and joy was his sweet corn. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great grand-children.
He is survived by his wife, Adeline, sons Robert (Hollis) Neutz of Thompson’s Station, TN, Thomas (Sharyl) Neutz of Merrifield, MN and daughter Margaret (Frederick) Nowak of Redlands, CA.
