Ardis Ann Eide (Richardson) passed away peacefully on June 11, 2023 surrounded by family after enduring seven years with Alzheimer’s.

Ardis was born to Tom and Louise Richardson on November 30, 1944 in Osseo, Minnesota; the third of four daughters. In 1962 she graduated from Osseo High School.

She met David Eide in 1963 and they were married on June 29, 1968. Dave and Ardis shared 55 years of happiness. They enjoyed traveling, time at the cabin, golfing, long walks, and spending time with their many friends. David called her Peaches and sang “You are my Sunshine” to her in the mornings, because it is true. They went to college together in St. Cloud and lived in Robbinsdale and Golden Valley before settling in St. Michael where they raised two sons Benjamin (Jean) and Nicholas (Liz). Jean and Liz were instantly loved and became the adored daughters she never had. They won the lottery when she became their mother-in-law.

Ardis was gifted in many ways. A love for color, shapes, and patterns came together in her quilting. A long-time quilt club member, she lovingly crafted wedding quilts for both her sons and their wives along with baby and graduation quilts for each grandchild. She loved to create and gifted many others with her endearing and beautiful works of art. She loved time outside, adored flowers, and was a skilled wildlife spotter – whale watching in Hawaii brought her incredible joy and peace.

Most of all she enjoyed time with family.  When Ardis called, her family joyfully gathered around the table for good food, laughter, and games. She was an excellent cook (although mysteriously this was one of the first things she forgot how to do). She was also competitive and it was rare that anyone could beat her at Cribbage or ping-pong.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed cheering on her children and grandchildren in all they did.

She will be missed by all who knew her, especially her five grandchildren Samantha, Alexander, Maxwell, Jackson, and Sophia.

Celebration of Life will be held at Peterson Chapel in St. Michael on June 17th. Visitation is from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM with the service at 11:00 AM. Lunch reception to follow.

Memorials to the Nature Conservancy are welcome.

We met Ardis and Dave in Florida the first day we arrived 13 years ago. We didn’t necessarily enjoy all the same activities but we enjoyed each others company. We played Rummikub!

This lovely, quiet, articulate, well spoken women beat our proverbial butts, continually.

May she rest in peace. And continue on the same game path..

    May she rest in peace.

We met Ardis many years ago as we began our sweet friendship with Ben and Jean. Ardis was funny and sweet, was always interested in what we were up to and never missed a chance for a hello and always asked about our family and lives. Ardis was adored by her family and it was always evident. It was a gift to witness Dave and the boys care for her. Sweet Ardis, may you rest well in your new Heavenly place. Thank you for leaving a multitude of legacies through your family…. We are better humans having known you.

Dave, our thoughts of you and Ardis bring back cherished memories of our stays on Manasota Key. A great couple with good values who we used to share chats with on many occasions on our little piece of grass at Driftwood.
