Allen G. (Al), age 71, of Annandale, passed away March 10, 2011, at his home. Al was born on October 9, 1939, in Staples, MN. His first home was in Wayzata, where he lived for many years before he moved to Buffalo. Al lived in Buffalo more than twenty years. In the past eight years Al and his wife Roberta retired to their lake home on North Ten-Mile Lake near Dalton, MN. Al is preceded in death by his parents: Glenn and Elsie Thomson; his first wife: Carol Thomson; and his sisters: Gladys, Norma, and Beverly. He is survived by his loving Wife: Roberta (Varner) Thomson; Children: Deb (Brian) Johnson, Kim Hughes, Wade (Paula) Thomson and Mark Thomson & fiancée Rhonda; Step-Children: Adam (Christina) Schnabel and Jessica (Carey Byron) Schnabel. Al is also survived by five cherished Grandchildren and four beloved Great-Grandchildren. Al was one of the original founders of Buffalo’s Youth Hockey Program. In his spare time, he loved to goose hunt, fish for walleye, enjoyed vintage cars, dancing, coaching hockey, and always loved telling a good story and making people laugh. Al worked for the Wright County Journal Press for twenty years as an Advertising Sales Manager, and in 1990 started his own sign company that was called “Sign City.” A Memorial gathering will be held on Friday, March 18th, 2011, from 4pm-8pm at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial donations be made in the name of Allen G. Thomson, and will be donated to Allina Hospice by the family. The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo is serving the family.
