Born Albert Elroy Monson on April 6, 1917 in Spicer, Minnesota to Albert and
Amanda Monson, he grew up on a western Minnesota farm with brother, Leonard, and
sisters, Eleanor and Arline. In 1934 he graduated with honors from the Ag School
at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, Minnesota. Returning to the family
farm near Spicer, he was actively involved in his church, community and working
the family farm. On December 1, 1951 he married June Rogalla. They farmed until
moving to Atwater, Minnesota nine years later.

While he always worked very hard at his vocational endeavors, Elroy’s main
passions were his family and church. He devoted many hours to church activities
and supporting his children and grandchildren in their various interests and
pursuits. He also loved to hunt and fish. The last 15 years of his life were
lived in Buffalo, MN where Elroy was surrounded by the love and support of his
family. He will be greatly missed and long remembered by all who knew him.

Elroy is survived by his wife, June Monson of Buffalo, Minnesota; three sons,
Gary (Sarah) Monson of Buffalo, MN, Lee (Shelly) Monson of Inver Grove Heights,
MN, Al (Julie) Monson of South St. Paul, MN; two daughters, Linda (Vernon) Lear
of Buffalo, MN, and Becky (Jesus) Prieto of Madrid, Spain; and a sister,
