October 20, 1935 – January 1, 2023

Agatha J. “Aggie” Hackenmueller, of St. Michael, MN born October 20, 1935 in a car crossing a railroad track, died surrounded by her family on January 1, 2023.   Preceded in death by husband Vernon Hackenmueller, her parents Ed and Nora Gleason, siblings Mary Abeln and John Gleason, and son-in-law Monte Jacobs.    Survived by children, Michael (Sue) Hackenmueller, Mary Beth (August) Keller, Ann (Terry) Nelson, Colleen Garty, Ed (Sara) Hackenmueller & Kate Jacobs.   Aggie’s greatest joy in life was her 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.   Also survived by sister Marguerite (Ron) Klaers, in-laws James (Sharon) Hackenmueller, Father Jerome Hackenmueller and Carol Hackenmueller.   Vernon and Aggie owned and operated Vern’s Supermarket and Hack’s Grocery-Gas-Liquor as a family for over 30 years.    During that time, Aggie also operated an in-store bakery providing the community with raised doughnuts and wedding cakes.   Aggie always had an open heart and open door to all.

In lieu of flowers a donation will be made to The Hanover Food Shelf.

    I enjoyed working with Aggie when she and Vern worked at the Jr. High. Wonderful people. I asked her what advice she had for raising teenagers and she told me “always be up when they came home after going out!” Great advice that I followed!
